Overview of the City of Bogor
Bogor City is a city in West Java Province, Indonesia. The city is 59 km south of Jakarta, and its territory is in the middle of the Bogor Regency location. It used to be 21,56 km², but now it has grown to 118,500 km² and has a population of 1,303, 720 people (2014). Bogor is known as the city of rain, because it has such high rainfall. Bogor City consists of 6 subdistricts which are subdivided into 68 villages. At the time of the Dutch Colonial, Bogor was known by the name Buitenzorg which meant "without any worries" or "secure peace".
